Adelantes

Post by photons66 »

I was at Ealing Broadway station today and I never saw one Adelante on a service. Any ideas why please?
Regards.

FGW are retaining 3 180s until they get the HST from NXEC in December, the 3 180s will be used in a 180+180 formation, with the other one as a spare.

It seems a shame because I used to like going on those trains, meandering their way through the Coptswold Line,.

Why are FGW getting rid of the Adelente's, when they were raving about how good they are a few years back?

Think I saw one at Bristol Temple Meads last Sunday. Only saw it breifly for a few seconds while coming into the station on another train. So couldn't see for sure if it was an Adelente or an HST. Looked like one to me though. If it was, it would have worked the 2000 service to London Paddington.

High costs.

I can't remember the exact figures but a 5 car 180 costs more to run in maintainance, fuel and leasing then a 2+8 HST

because FGW have woken up to the idea that underfloor engines are ill-suited to the work they gave them?

Also, being built at Washwood Heath, they are as well put together as everything built just down the road in Longbridge...

Is this all because that Pioneer fell of the jacks?

There were three or four of them sighted at a depot near Wolverhampton last night. No numbers or photos unfortunately. :(

It is, and it's also the reason why 86101 Sir William A Stanier FRS has been at work for Hull trains for a good few months. Sadly I think that's over now. :(

Regarding entry into service with HT, thefirst set was due to be in service this week on the busiest trains, notably the 06:25 from Hull.

This has been put back by at least a week, because not enough staff are trained up on the units yet.

I'll keep you informed :)

Why can't Hull Trains finance production of more Pioneer units then?
