hmmm wrexham, ermmmm lovely town not, a trip on a brick to wrexham central might be worth it or a 10 - 15 minute walk to the town centre.

£48 walk on fares is damn fantastic considereing a standard return before 9 on a weekday is £62.60 Wrexham - Marylebone (non WSMR trains) £96.50 open return, £159 first class.

Oh yes how can i forget the chippy's probably the best thing about Wrexham. i can still remember the Derailment there.

Be aware that if you book via the train booking websites the cheapest you'll get quoted is £24 each way between London Marylebone and Wrexham. I nearly paid those prices myself. Yet if you book via http://www.wrexhamandshropshire.co.uk you can pick up fares for a bargain £14 each way. Not bad atall for a 4 hour or so journey onboard a 67.

And correction to my earlier post. After Banbury, the rest of the journey isn't all stopping at stations frequently. 1 hour-1 hour 30 mins between Banbury and Tame Bridge Parkway, then frequent stops after that.

As a resident of sunny Wrexham, I felt I should add my 2p's worth to this topic.

I have to say I'm extremely positive about WSMR, but maybe that's got something to do with regular loco-hauled trains (aka "proper trains") from my local station. Certainly, it's the best thing that's happened to Wrexham (in railway terms at any rate) since I can remember!

The £14 advance single fare is brilliant - this was the fare I was hoping for when they launched it back in April - £28 for a day-out in London is not to be sniffed at!!

Seeing as the DVTs are now coming into service, it's a case of "get 'em while you can" with the top'n'tailer 67s. Ditto the Cargo-D Mk3s, which are hellfire. It's been great travelling in a declassified First Open on a standard class fare - all that leg room!! According to press releases on the WSMR website, the refurbed Mk3 stock is to start coming into service at the end of November, with them all in service by the New Year.

I have to say I choose to travel WSMR even if I'm only going to Shrewsbury. Indeed, if I'm going to Brum, I'll go on WSMR to Wolverhampton, and change trains, rather than get the direct ATW service.

I've bought a DVD of the WSMR cabride from Wrexham to Marylebone from 225 Studios - can't wait to watch it - 3hrs 56mins is value for money!

Is anyone doing a WSMR train for MSTS? I know there's the EWS Executive Train in the download library, which is basically the same set-up as the WSMR stock, but I'd love to see a version of it in WSMR colours!

talking of cabrides, does anybody know any free on-line cabrides, a search on you tube didn't prove as successful as i was hoping.
