Sorry if this has already been asked, but am I not right in thinking there's (or at least was) a load of DBSOs spare since Anglia brought in the 90s/DVTs? Given the length of the trains, it would make more sense to stick one of them on the back rather than a truckload of cycle/large baggage storage a la DVTs.

All horrendous rust buckets however, and would need a lot of work on them!

Network Rail are refurbing some for use with 31s on the Test trains in push pull mode so as to save on the use of 2 locos.

Yes, but if they crash they'll fall to bits - I believe the cabs would actually fall off!

Its in all the local news papers here. 28th start it is, oh it's gonna be interesting to see them operating i believe they have no depot at the moment just planning permission to build one in wrexham.

im Sure DB and Renissianse will find somewhere to keep the 67's and stock warm.

Liang is owned by DB now. so the guys that operate Chiltern are jointly operating the WSMR wooo hooo.

I don't see why they won't as they are hiring in stock so the fact their own stuff isnt ready won't affect. Grand Central had problems as their paths were for 125mph so they needed HSTs. WSMR have 100mph paths so class 67s and mk3s or mk2s will be fine. Also I'd rather be called Matt

and on the DBSO issue - why bother with the work on those? the trains are going to be very short, so if they find they need more capacity they won't need to convert the DVT bit into pax accomodation. Just stick another SO/FO in the train...

All set to run on the 28th then. Though a little dissapointed with the prices. Cheapest advance single fares from London-Wrexham are £24(£48 for a return journey). I was hoping the prices would be similarly good value as Chiltern Railway's £18 return to Birmingham, even as a walk-on fare. So was hoping the fares would be around £35 for a return to Wrexham. £48 return isn't extortionately expensive, though still a tad expensive really. Still, it IS on those very excellent Class 67's. And it's a nice long journey. So will fork out for a ride up to Wrexham and back sometime in the coming months ahead. If it was just your bog standard DMU's though, then naaaah. The 67's are the selling point for me.

Is there actually much to do in Wrexham? Because it would mean either just having 27 minutes there, or 5 hours there. The 0817 from London Maryelbone arrived Wrexham 1228. The return journeys back are at 1255 and 1725.

The nonstop part of the journey between London Marylebone and Banbury will be particularly nice. 1 hour 10-1 hour 20 minutes without stopping at stations. The rest of the journey, station stops are frequent.
