Future of Compass Tours

Post by rowan826 »

With Victa Westlink Rail not operating anymore, I wonder which TOC will be operating Compass Tours in 2008?

The compass tour on 8th December from Stockport to Dundee will be hauled by class 67 locomotives!! Why?

Most are Compass Tours customers are daytrippers with only around 5% railway enthusiasts onboard the trains.

Then 95% of people on-board wont be bothered about the . traction hauling the train. :)
It's all about the sound!!! :) (Excluding unit's, electric's, kettles and for now 57's, 66's and 67's)

Great news!! I don't want a Class 67 railtour.

There are very few class 67 enthusiasts out there but a class 67 can sell out with daytrippers.

Thats why they are used, also because they are cheap, quick and in abundance.

Day tours dont bother too much with stock because they arnt Railtours ;)

Who wants a 125mph railtour!? Not me.

Class 67 had never done 125mph apart from testing.

A Class 67 hauling Mark 2s on a 125mph line is limited to 100mph. You need Mark 3s to run a Class 67 at 125mph.

The Northern Belle can only do up to 100mph because it uses Mark 2s.

Thats just the point I meant :P

Its a shame that Mk3's dont have opening windows, or at least I dont think they do, its been a while...
