Given Freightliner have been pretty much kept out of the really heavy market thanks to not having anything up to the standards of a 59 or even 60, would they be used on existing traffic, like coal over the S&C or West Coast, or on traffic won from EWS? On another note, if EWS order some, would it the end for the 60s?

one of the major factors for the purchase of these new locomotives will be the fuel economy/emmisions AND how much weight it can haul...
an on the haugage aspct i know GM/EMD stated the class 66 design could be ordered with an AC traction fitted.. that would allow the 66 to haul longer, heavier trains without affecting speed etc... but i think the lack of practical use for it in the UK discouraged the usefullness over price.
