Re: One to be no more
I heard that "one" too. I also heard it was a sly dig at First Group because they lost out big time in the Greater Anglia franchise bids.
With c2c, it replaced the LT&S branding as LT&S had negative connotations in people's minds, given the problems the line had before the modernisation. In the end, they could call it "Linda" and the residents of London, Tilbury or Southend still wouldn't care just as long as the service is reliable.

It would be known as First Great Eastern (FGE) if First Group had won the Greater Anglia franchise.

Re: One to be no more
Keolis did get narky about it, but since First Group own 55% of the company they have the majority vote. This year it was changed back to First TransPennine Express too, here is the Wiki extract:slipdigby wrote:Apparently Keolis were getting a bit narky about not getting mentioned, and as a 9 syllable company name announcement seemed a bit daft they decided to ignore both group brands and stick with just the Transpennine express bit.arabiandisco wrote:but even then "First Transpennine Express" is a bit much, so they seem to have dropped the "First".
Slip
Name Change
From 10 December 2004, TransPennine Express changed its name to First TransPennine Express. But in November 2006 this was changed back to TransPennine Express, due to complaints from Keolis. However on 14 August 2007 this was again changed back to First TransPennine Express.

I know, that took me by surprise as well. I assume it had been for attention at Wabtec. It pulled out from behind the works, then went off for a test run.superdrive1 wrote:"one" 156, Doncaster?Does that really go together in any way?

Re: One to be no more
Doncaster wasn't the only place I saw a One/Anglia train. 29th September 2007 saw 47818 turn up at Preston, hauling a Blue Pullman (Cotswold operated) to Oxenholme. It paused briefly for a driver exchange, but I was fortunate to get a few shots. Here's one of them: http://www.davidhennesseystrainworld.fo ... 71311.html
