Hull Trains News...

Firstly, yesterday, HT class 222 Availability reached an all time low.... of 1 unit!

Yesterday, only 1 unit out of the 3 that can be used, was available for service, due to 2 units failing over the weekend.

Today there are only 2 units in service out of 3, as 1 unit is at Crofton with a bogie defect.

As a result, HT cannot run all its advertised services.

*The long term sick unit (that fell off the jacks) will be out of service until 2009.*

Now the better news is that from December, a class 180 should join the fleet, then from March 2008, another 180 will arrive. These will be used on the busiest trains, due to being 5 car sets.

All being well, there will be 5 available trains for HT (2x180, 3x222), from March, to run 4 diagrams Mon - Sat, giving the company a maintenance spare / standby unit once again :)

Cheers!

Comment if you wish. :)

Ouch. Poor HT... It's a real blow to such a great TOC.

There's a class 86 (86101) and Mk3 set (cargo d mk3s) entering service from next month on a couple of trains per day running from Kings Cross to Doncaster only - awaiting DVT from Wabtec.

Did they drop the use of the 47 from Doncaster to Hull then?

Yes I'm afraid so Tigermon, I was looking forward to that as well!

:D

Been watching progress on that one, and will be out for a ride on this set as and when it appears.

just a thought but has anyone else given thought to the fact that 180105 is oos at the moment and there is a 180 due to go to HT later in the year,... could 105 be recieving mods or internal attention prior to transfer

180's to HT, hmm, is this a good idea? "I am sorry for the cancellation of your Hull Trains service to Hull, this is due to a fire onboard the train!"
However, the sooner they get back on their feet, the better as they are one of my favourite TOC's amongst the First Group, :D

Open Access rights for Hull Trains expire in 2012. What will happen after 2012?

Most companies go thought bad patches and its Hull Trains turn at the moment.

As I mentioned in another thread, on Wednesday just gone, HT had 1 unit in service.

Today they have 2 units in service, again cancelling trains.

Also....

TV News crews were at Hull Station last night, as apparently the "lack of services" has caught the attention of someone in the TV news industry (BBC local?) and a few comments were made regarding the somewhat "poor" service that HT is now providing.

I think, in my personal opinion, that HT should implement an emergency timetable (maybe 5 trains each way?), until things are sorted out with the 222s. There is no way they can continue like this, they are losing custom, and money, we are told...

Things are not looking good at the moment, sad really, as they are a good company.

Cheers.

I thought they already ran that many? But the media shouldn't be murdering the chance of HT getting passengers by saying they're rubbish. The media should encourage railway travel... They've been dead against it since they got wind of the MP hit by a train on the Liverpool & Manchester.

Today was interesting, HT were running 222s KX - Doncaster - KX, with TPE providing 170s on Hull - Doncaster - Hull to connect with them :D

Was one hell of a sight seeing 2 TPE 170s in doncaster platform 6 this afternoon

It was on Look North the BBC local news program for Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

I thought that the Hull trains manager/spokesperson did very well to explain the situation and stick up for the company. It's not their fault that their trains need serviceing.
