Wouldn't mind a repeat of a Pathfinder tour from Liverpool to Carlisle via Manchester, Huddersfield York (reverse), Leeds, Settle and Carlisle, return to Liverpool via Gateshead, York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester. Traction: EWS 37's in T&T and paired. Gotta be! :D

I think I know which one you are talking about! That was a good day out but I think it would have been better (as orginally planned) with 55022!

Okay, a wierd one from me...

Itinerary: Outward journey via Craven Arms and the Heart of Wales line. Return via Newport, Chepstow, Cheltenham and Wolverhampton.

Traction: Either D1015 Western Champion, 40145, 55022 Royal Scots Grey, or a pair of EWS 37's. West Coast Railways 47 or 37 to tail excursion, and handle stock moves.

Not weird at all mate, sounds great. Just to clarify, would it go down the Welsh Marches line at Shrewsbury, ie Ludlow, Leominster, Hereford, Abergavenny, Newport and then Cardiff, and then return via Chepstow/Lydney Junction/Gloucester? If so, it certainly would be a varied route.
How about you time the tour so it coincides with specials at the Forest of Dean railway? By specials I mean when it has steam days so people, once they've finished visiting and those people don't have a car, can hop onto the tour to take them home? The only problem with that is your tour will go via Birmingham so it wouldn't be good for those people without a car who came from, say, Colchester or Maidstone. :D
Sorry for my waffling.

Cheers.

Hmm. Can't see anything wrong then, with altering the route, and calling at Lydney Junction to detrain those wanting to go the DFR (and then take them on coaches to the railway, and then to rejoin the charter at Newport) . For anyone in the Birmingham area, I would advise them to travel to Wolverhampton. But this is only a mere fantasy; I'm not sure if this would all be realistically possible, in time and route.

I'd like to consider a start time from at least 07.00 AM onwards, and be back between 22.30 and 23.00 PM.

Would anyone agree on this?

Sounds good but it'll cause pathing headaches when it gets to Rugby. I presume you will then divert the tour via Northampton and then rejoin the slow lines at Hanslope Junction? I say headaches because you will have to neatly slot the tour in between London Midland services, especially between Milton Keynes and Tring - Euston. How about making it circular, and route it from Lichfield Trent Valley - Birmingham New Street, then Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury and back up the Welsh Marches.
Sorry David these are only suggestions. I really think they are innovative ideas.
