Oh dear indeed. Should be interesting when they fetch those in. I await the appearance of a 142 on a Penzance - Paddington service with great anticipation...

Ah well, it might give the 'vals r beasts MTUs suck' brigade something different to moan about. I live in hope. :)

Shocking, truly, truly shocking. Indicative of the sheer stupidity that runs through our wonderfully privatised railway.....

But then what can you expect...

It was such a roaring success last time they did it  Return of the slippers.

The Railway Centre are making their disdain for FGW quite obvious lately, aren't they?

Aye, I'd noticed that - it's quite funny to read sometimes. FGW will be setting Slaughter and May on them next... :P

And quite rightly too in my opinion

Surely if Pacers were a failure first time around, there would be somebody that would tell FGW that? Or are they so disliked now that nobody is going to tell them in the hope that it may lead to them losing the franchise?

Pacers will be a success because they are cheaper.

That's all the privatised railways care about. They've proved they don't care about passengers or their comfort.

Ah yes Pacers, a good way to retrieve your stomach contense

I remember them on the Manchester to Chester service via Altrincham, and after the 101's went ( :( ) you imediatly wished they had stayed round longer, as the pacers were horrid on line between Navigation Rd and Stockport, and after time you felt the ride get worse due to wear & tear :-?

Better than services being cancelled I suppose.

At least it's additional stock!

The extra pacers will no doubt free up a few 150's which can be used to free up 158's elsewhere which can then be used to strengthen some of its most over-crowded long distance Ex-Wessex routes. It might be bad if you happen to live on a branch line but at least passengers on long distance services will benefit from it.

Cheers,
Ali

P/S - Even though I have written this my hatred for Worst Group is still alive and well.

just one thing...
IIRC the pacers were being taken on hire to cover for the refurb of the rest of the FGW "Wessex" DMU fleet.

so they aint really there forever.

It's a 12 month lease with option to extend. I really like the Pacers but this decision to send them back to a place they where sent away from because of all the wheel flanging, is silly IMHO.

Now the people who moan about FGW at the moment will realise what a bad train REALLY is! They wanted new trains; well be carefull what you wish for in future!
