The bidders for the new IEP trains have been shortlisted by the DfT:

* Alstom-Barclays Rail Group

* Express Rail Alliance (a consortium comprising Bombardier Transportation, Siemens, Angel Trains and Babcock & Brown)

* Hitachi Europe Ltd

I'm not confident with the Express Rail Alliance as Bombardier and Siemens will be making most of the decisions which could cause a bit of a massive argument between them.

I don’t think there will be any problems as they have worked together on projects before; the German ICE3 is one such example.

Fingers crossed for Hitachi!! :D get some proper Japanese trains over here, instead of the boring German stuff! :wink:

Seriously, good luck to all the bidders, just hope we get a high quality and nice speedy looking train out of them 8)
