IEP - The bidders are announced

The bidders for the new IEP trains have been shortlisted by the DfT:

* Alstom-Barclays Rail Group

* Express Rail Alliance (a consortium comprising Bombardier Transportation, Siemens, Angel Trains and Babcock & Brown)

* Hitachi Europe Ltd

I'm not confident with the Express Rail Alliance as Bombardier and Siemens will be making most of the decisions which could cause a bit of a massive argument between them.

I don’t think there will be any problems as they have worked together on projects before; the German ICE3 is one such example.

get some proper Japanese trains over here, instead of the boring German stuff!

Seriously, good luck to all the bidders, just hope we get a high quality and nice speedy looking train out of them
