BR HST Consists

Post by jonhewes »

Hi there,

Looking at purchasing an N Gauge HST Set in Intercity Swallow Livery. I was wondering if anyone could let me know the how a HST Set was configured back in the Intercity Swallow era - eg which coaches went where.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Hi,
Have a look at my site http://www.trainformations.co.uk/BR_HST ... Page_1.htm
The second formation. This formation actually came from Model Rail no. 96 (who have kindly let me use formations in their mags on my site)

For a cross country set the formation was;
DM, TF, TRSB, TS, TS, TS, TS, TGS, DM

Hope this helps.

Regards

Karl

HI

Seeing at this was my all time favourite HST livery I will answer this one.

The formations on the Great Western started with seven coaches
1 Guard
3 Standard
1 Buffet
2 First Class

Then in 1990 they added an 8th coach to the sets making 4 Standard class coaches.

This remained until Great Western Trains was formed an the initial Green and White livery came in.

In Blue/ Grey days they had 2 catering vehicles (ECML sets only, I think) - a Buffet in the middle of 2nd Class, and a Restaurant car in the first class bit.

Interesting but irrelevent he did specifically say swallow livery, although not having a go, personally i thought it was a good set up having 2 catering vehicles, Kept the Posh from the Poor.
