I think it means one direct Lincoln train per day in each direction, thats the way I read it.

Going to be interesting to say the least!

I don't thinik Central have done too badly, given the diversity of services they run (although the distinct lack of Sunday staff leaves a lot to be desired!).

Midland Mainline have done a sterling job over the past couple of years, so its a shame to see this taken away from NEG.

My main skepticism is price hikes. If SWT is anything to go by, you can expect to have extended peak periods and above inflation fare increases.

Cheers

Its the same anywhere - If you board a train without a ticket the offical line from ALL TOCs is you will be PFed or Sold Full Price (unless there are No working facilities)

Its Just SWT are now enforcing it more strictly (as are FGW and other TOCs) as ticket machines become more common

Or as their premium payments to the Government go up :P

Sorry, in a bit of a cynical mood this evening...

One positive, the Derwent Valley line is etting an upgrade of service - one per hour to Nottingham rather than once every two hours to Derby.

Are we sure there will be a 2 x Nottingham and 2 x Derby (1 of which is the Sheffield service) and 1 x Kettering per hour? There was talk of 2 x Derby (inc. 1 to Sheffield), 1 x Notthingham 1 x Kettering?

Good to hear Alex, I was worried they were trying to Pull a fast one there by cutting a Nottingham service out. Will be good to see extra passenger growth from the towns south of Leicester!

Extra capacity across the East Midlands, I wonder how they intend to deliver it? I hope they hold out for the IEP and don't order more Meridians. :(

Of course, ordering a new batch of Meridians to replace HST's will also allow them to maybe introduce 4 car sets on the Liverpool - Norwich services, cascading spare 170's to the East Midlands and freeing up from 158's for major refurbishments.

I think on the whole (as a guess):
The current MML services will remain much the same except get more expensive.
The current CT services will see vast improvements in reliability and train quality, but again, these improvements will be reflected in the cost.
So a better railway, but at a higher cost to the passenger.

Soon everybody is going to be paying premiums!
Well the East Midlands, SWT, GNER, FGW for a start.

Isn't the Liverpool - Norwich service moving to ICXC when that one is renewed?

I have no idea, thats a North West to South East route, I think it should be split into 2 sections to make it easier to run. A train can be delayed at Norwich for 10 mins and reach Liverpool and hour late.

Sorry yes you're right - slight lapse of memory there!

Still doesn't answer where the extra capacity will come from.

Personally, I think that it should be split Liverpool-Nottingham and Nottingham to Norwich, as you'll see from this link it's a service you will never see "On Time" between Norwich and Nottingham even if it is 4/5 minutes late even the above link shows the train as quite delayed, I've seen in the past punctuality is so much better just between Nottingham and Liverpool

Another Link showing another service, pay attention to the Norwich to Nottingam bit: http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/no ... 141472&R=0
Thoughts?
Shaun :)

I disagree with the notion of "splitting" any services. You end up putting operational convenience ahead of passenger convenience, which is (to coin a cliché) putting the cart ahead of the horse.

The railway should be run for the benefit of those who use it, not to artificially massage performance statistics whilst making journeys up to an hour longer than they were previously.
