Doncaster, what platform do Hull trains depart from

Post by phill70 »

Its a long time since I have been to Doncaster, so can anyone tell me what platform the Hull trains depart from ?

I have some relatives coming over from America, and they are going to Hull first, they will be arriving from Kings Cross, so I need directions from there.

Hull-bound usually go from Platform 4, and London-bound from Platform 2 :)

Hope this helps

If it's a local service to Hull that they'll be changing onto at Donny (as opposed to a through ex-London train), then it could equally well depart from 3b (quite a few Sheffield - Hull trains, particularly later in the day, seem to be booked to do this) or 1 (in the case of most Hull services originating at Doncaster).

Try entering the details into this online journey planner - it shows the platform that the train will be booked out of.

Might have understood the situation, but if they're coming from Kings X and going to Hull.....isn't there a direct service now?

Dave
Yes there is a direct service, but its not cheap, by changing at Doncaster, it can be done for 20.00 each single.

Provided the train stops at Doncaster there is no need to actually get off the train to use 2 consecutive tickets. Any booking office should be able to sell you the separate tickets or get them on-line.

Infact provided the operator has a train that stops at the ticket changeover station you should be OK on a non-stop train. My season ticket into London is split at Finsbury Park but my morning train does not actually stop there.

Agreed, I get cheaper travel from Manchester-Carlisle by buying Manchester-Preston and Preston-Carlisle tickets, but I take a direct train :)

Your fine with your seasons but not regular tickets; in that case the train MUST stop at the changeover station.

Not really.

I have a regular who travels to Bromsgrove and I split the tickets at Barnt Green, although the service doesn't stop there.

I'm sure the official rules are that a train MUST call at the 'changeover' station for the ticket to be valid, with the exception being seaon tickets, & rangers / rovers valid for 3 days or more.

Of course, guards may decide not to enforce this :)

Cheers
