karlrestall wrote:Me again :D, One more question honnest, are there set arrival and departure platforms for GNER, FCC and Hull Trains? For example GNER use platforms 1-7 FCC use 8 & 9 and Hull Trains use platform 10 & 11? I suspect that there will be specific platforms for the TOCs to use but there seems to be no set rule apart from LK+ to Edinburgh trains seem to leave from platform 1. Also what platforms will Grand Central use when they start in September?

Any help would be appreciated, I am in the process of making an activity so all this information won't go to waste.

Regards

Karl
Quick question, are you talking about Kings Cross as the platforms are used in the following order;

GNER can only use Platforms 1 to 8
Hull Trains only use Platforms 1 to 8
FCC use Platforms 9 to 11 mainly but they also use Platforms 1 to 8
Grand Central would more then likely be using Platforms 1 to 8
Network Rail normally uses Platform 8 or 7

As far as FCC goes, the slow and semi-fast services nearly always use P9-11, with the fast services (like the Cambridge/Kings Lynn trains) tend to use P8. In general, trains that will use the slow lines through Gasworks Tunnel use the suburban platforms, with trains for the fast lines using the main part.

Platform 8 is the regular haunt of the Class 317 Standby unit, consequently only FCC and Hull Trains can bring another train in 'on top' of it. Other than for the 18.07 to Peterborough - the only 12-car - all other FCC services can use either the Mains or the Subs. Late night trains typically use the 'Mains', as many form 9-/12-car ECS. It is all planned, but there isn't necessarily a rule as to which platform is used by which group of services, more a case of fitting in with the correct stock working (ie HST in forms HST out).

There's almost certainly a set of "normal" platforms for each train, but I'd expect it's pretty flexible.

Don't forget the Class 365 Standby unit which is always on Platform 10 :wink:
