Post by Beetlejuice »

hi guys,
It's recently come to my attension that there must be something wrong with 4471. It has been taken off all mainline specials and I heard off the railway presservation forums there was something wrong with it. But i couldn't work out what. I have seen it today though raising steam and moving along the NRM's yard nearest the Scarborugh Line.
Any ideas whats going on?
Cheers,
Ross

It failed an exam for main line running, but is fit to run on "heritage railways".

Incidentally, get it while you can. It is highly unlikely to be overhauled when it comes out of traffic at the end of the year.

ahh. I thought it was something to do with the monobloc cyclinder being bust or something, even though it did strike me why could it then run on steam railways/ heritage.

cheers.

Damn, it was at Hornsey TSC earlier this year and I didn't spent the time for a look in the cab. I only wish I did now, :(

No it's still able to run on preserved lines after the boiler pressure was lowered.

Strangely I have seen it or another steam loco moving around again today. Once I can understand for it may be testing but twice is a bit odd.
