Sorry for a stupid question. But today at Warrington Central I seen 158806 with the TPE branding across including First banners across the trains. But the service was the Central Trains to Norwich.

Basically I just want to know where this train is at as I nearly got on it thinking it was to Leeds :P

Dunno, but did you give my mum a wave when you were passing? (she works at Warrington Central) :)

Won't it be one of the TPE 158's that got cascaded when the 185's came in.

After checking Wikipedia. It is one that went to Central Trains. I thought they would have removed the branding though or at least covering the First titles.

Im sure a person or 2 would have thought it was the Scarborough train :D

Trust me removal of branding is not priority!! Take Northern some 156's haven't been branded yet with their logo and Northern have had the Franchise since 2004!!

We're getting used to the sight of an ex-TPEX 158 on the Robin Hood Line (Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop). Makes people wonder which bit of the Pennines they are about to cross!

Cheers

How about the 159/1 conversions? Aren't they ex-TPE units?

Im not saying remove the whole branding, im just saying that the logos are still First when its CT that operate them. They just need taping over or something.

And Northern still want to "finalise" their corperate image before painting trains.

What is their current corperate image? Shoddy & Dirty?

I think the state of these 158's truely reflect the companies which operate them. Who's in it for the long run and who isn't. Although I appreciate you can't do a decent overhaul with a large fleet overnight. Also I doubt CT's cares anymore...

And give them a decent refurb, its imbarrassing how bad the FGW 158s are compared to the SWT 159s.

Part of the problem is that the units are being shuffled so much no-one is quite sure whether those units are theirs or set to become someone else's.

There are SWT 158s (2-cars) running round in FTPE livery, and certainly quite a few in Salisbury depot in said condition. None to my knowledge have strayed onto prime West of England services, fortunately. As to FGW, I'll mention Wessex Trains for having been lumbered with 158s in increasingly tatty condition, but at least put one or two through refurb before First decided to rip the whole thing apart - ISTR 'Richard Trevithick' being one, a pretty good refurb job too. Now FGW passengers are given tatty ex-TPE 158s (and not enough of them), but hey, that's okay, as long as it has a big pink F on the side...

Southeastern borrow Southern's 377's sometimes.
