Going from Bristol to Gloucester. What class will I be in?

Going from Yeovil to Gloucester tomorrow afternoon to collect a new car. I know the first bit from Yeovil to Bristol Temple Meads will be on a 150 or 158. What am I likely to be put in on the run from Bristol Temple Meads to Gloucester?

It's a First Great Western service. Am I likely to get an HST, 15x or a Pacer?

(Hopefully not a Pacer as my back is bad already).

Cheers

Keep a lookout at Gloucester for a pair of 47s on a Rugex... one departs Gloucester at 13:58.

Also a Pullman (Spooned) departs Bristol at 16:35 (arrives at 11:25), though thats probably too late for you.

If it's a 142 then they only have 3rd class...

Bristol - Gloucester could well be a Voyager too, couldn't it? Clearly not on an FGW service, but they do run that way...

Voyagers do not normally call at Gloucester except for when there are diversions on. They bypass it on the Barnwood triangle and call at Cheltenham instead. If your service is the Taunton - Great Malvern one, there is a high chance it will be a 158 as I think they are booked for 90mph so they don't get in the way of the Virgin services.

Just looked at the journey planner and it appears acceptable to get the xx59 Voyager from Bristol Temple Meads to Cheltenham and then change onto the xx46 Cheltenham to Gloucester if you want to avoid what could possibly be a Pacer. It only takes 9 minutes longer than the direct FGW due the Voyager going no-stop from Parkway and being able to do 100mph instead of 75mph on most sections of the route.

FGW only have 143s (and they are in relativly good condition - better then most of the 153s in the area)

The evening Cardiff Central Voyager I do believe calls at Gloucester on the southbound.

hi because i live in Gloucester and i am always
on national rail website i am always here to help
and also about once in two weeks at Gloucester
or cheltenham spa it depends really. but from
bristol T M - Gloucester the possibilities would
probably be a chance of an fgw 143(unlikely)
150,153 a 158 defiantly not a fgw hst it does
not travel that route and it will probably not
be a voyager might be if your super lucky.
weirdist train routes from and to Gloucester
XC 220 Origin = Gloucester - Plymouth = Destination
XC 220 Orgin = Manchester Picc - Bristol temple Meads = 18:40
FGW HST Origin = Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Temple Meads = 22:35
thanks
