5th gear was created when the BBC canned Top Gear first time around, and as such it's bsaically what the 'old' top gear was.salopiangrowler wrote:so if acting a fool and wearing 2 hard hats ans telling people to wear hi vis clothing is going to get attention to the audience of top gear then most of top gears audiance shouldnt be on the road.
All top gear is presenters getting there kicks out of doing things and getting away with it and looking at the audience and saying try this at home and see how far you go.
Jeremy always carries that smug look as if he is saying i can do this because im famous and its my job oh look my ego's attatched to the back of my tractor in the drag race.
its a wonder why tiff needle buggered off the Ch5 and give birth to 5th gear all in all a much better show with a healthier format more mature humour and i actually enjoy it more than top gear.
If it is right about jeremy having to act in a slightly offbeat dumb childish way then i hate to think what they think of there viewers let alone the studio audience.
The new version is solely entertainment, with an automotive flavour. When I watch it, it's because it's funny, even if it is rather lowest-common-denominator stuff.
