SWT trip

Post by samwhitewick »

I was on a trip today going to kingston and i swear i saw a Class 444 pass our train but the odd thing is that only 455's and occasionaly 450's come on that line. but it was heading towards shepperton?! Can someone explain this strange happening?
Also are the "the next station is...." announments automatic or manual as on the way back i would be coming out of say upper haliford and it would say "the next sation is upper haliford" this was all of the journey andn "this is a SWT to waterloo" but it as for shepperton?! Plus the train there and back was a few minutes late which is also strange as they are normally ontime?!

hi, it was a 442 on the last ever 442 working for SWT, it was a staff only train on the loop. as i understand it the signaling is 2 aspect, with distant signals, if so a block would be quite large. and so the train got held up waiting for the 442 to clear the signal block?

on the train or on the platform, they are usually automatically read but if on a train a number gets enterd into the trains computer and the comp recognises the number and so reads out the destination

Enough time for the driver to change ends, and off again I would have thought.

Me and some mates were chasing it, we got it at Feltham, Fulwell and Hampton - it didn't linger at Shepperton.
