87012 & 87019 have left the UK for a new life in Bulgaria, http://www.wnxx.com quotes that they left the UK on 27th December 2006 through the Channel Tunnel. Does anyone know if they have arrived in Bulgaria yet??? and is anyone aware of any pics of 87012/19 en-route whilst in mainland Europe, or can anyone recommend any good websites with current sightings/pics for European railways (Germany probably most likely as 87012/19 probably routed that way....)

Thanks in advance!!!

12 is a bit surprising, given that it's The Olympian. Maybe Sofia are going for 2016.

the most likely reason that they have not yet left calais is because porterbrook/new owner Bulgarian Railways have not yet made complete arangments for the transfer of the locos from france to bulgaria...
as there are no operators who will operate from calais all the way to which ever railway yard is on the bulgarian side of the border (most likely between bulgaria and romania) so as i understand it the locos would need to be hauled from calais to a yard on the border between france and belgium so that a belgian operator or even a german open access operator can operate them through as far as austria before they would need to be hauled by MAV (hungarian railways ) again this is my best guess and estimate based pn many years of working in international transport.

3 DRS 20's made it to Kosovo in Yugoslavia admittingly 50% of the trip hauled dead because of some of the railways rules about diesels under the wire's and refuelling.

Admittingly Paperwork is the problem these day's not transportation.

I think 012 is out of hours legally for British usage before an overhaul is required? Judged to be not worth the work apparently, same sort of reason MML juggle their powercars?

Well I hope they take of them! Can't quite believe we're done with 87s, real unsung workhorses. And those 2 were a nice touch at the end. God speed.

Hate to see them go, but if there's a chance the lifespan of this class could be extended a few more years then I suppose it's all good!
