I hear 60098 is to be returned to Brush Loughborough when its working life is over complete with its Charles Francis Brush plates. Apparently its been agreed between EWS and Brush because of it being the 1,000th locomotive built by Brush. Will it sit on a plinth?! And the other thing that worries me is if EWS are discussing these machines in this fashion it means they havent long left. Low geared 66's for EWS then?

They'd need a very low geared 66 then because the Freighliner ones can't handle the same loads a 60 can.

It's working life is over must be talking three years was the last time it ran

the chap who told me has good connections, i wouldnt doubt his word but i guess the optimists among us still see the relativley newish 60s returning to traffic.

to take it with a pinch of salt is quite what im going to do but given the time when the RHTT 66's have finished track basing the 60's will dwindle down to a mediocre 24 examples again.

It's only the french EWS 66's that are keeping the Tug's going.
