Bargain DVD's spotted

I couldn't find a forum that seemed to fit this post, so apologies to any who feel it doesn't belong here.
Today I popped into a bargain book shop called "The Works" in Reading and spotted some a couple of railway DVD box sets, each containing 10 DVD releases, 2 to a disc so 5 DVD's.
I bought the Freight set for £11.99 which contains:
Railfreight Today 1-9 (Midlands, Northwest, NorthEast, Scotland, SouthWest, SoutheEast, Wales, Eastern Counties and Update) and Railfreight Today Ireland.
The other one was a Steam set for the same price, I don't remember the names of the titles, but noted that about half of the titles were taster releases, so possibly not the full release versions from when these were sold seperately.
I believe The Works is a chain as I have been in another one of their stores but can't remember where!

I bagged myself an 8 DVD Boxed set of "Railway Roundabout" programs which feature archive films of a few MSTS routes, Bala Hub, Lyme Regis etc: They were bought from one of the shopping channels on Sky/Freeview RRP was over £120 but I got the set for about £25 Also got a set called "Classic steam train collection" for around the same price which follows a different engine on the mainline in each DVD, Very well put together and a lot better than I expected

Is this what you have bought?

I've watched some of the DVD's. A real treat for pre-privatisation fans.
Class 58's, even a Class 85 on the first one. Some newly liveried Departmental grey/yellow machinery too. Channel Tunnel not yet open..... I'm sure I could date the year if I tried.

Just received my DVD pack. I agree that it's a worthwhile DVD for pre-privatisation fans. Lots of information given by the commentator, though he just doesn't shut up! No information given on the footage that you see ie: what loco, date of working, route etc.. not much chance of hearing some thrash, especially of the Wales section!! Loads of 37 haulage!!
At that price, I've got no complaints.

Agreed! Class 37 thrashing past the camera and he keeps talking!

Takes me back to when the railway was a bit more interesting, Theres a good bit of thrash while the driver takes a pair of Buxton 37s through an unloading hopper in the midlands one.

You're right there. It was more interesting. And how times have changed, even in 15 years. Now everything seems to be block or container trains. No mixed freight. No speedlink. Ah well.

I thought you'd spot the 37's John. I particularly like the Clitheroe cement coverage in episode 1.
