I think the main driver for replacing pacers will be their awful reliablility. Therefore, using them for Sandite could be disasterous, as running them for 2 months a year will certainly not help reliability- they'd be sitting down all over the place. That of course is a problem with whatever you use for such seasonal trains, but given that pacers are pretty dire when used regularly, they'd be a poor choice IMO.

Ah, Sandite trains. Trains which are timed to run in paths which don't exist, and if they ran to time would end up throwing the entire train plan into disarray. Just as long as one doesn't break down (after 8 months in store) at some critical junction.
Better still, the Harsco Grinders. Fire and Brimstone, et al.They should just get a 'shark' and drop the plough to the rail head.

Actually thinking about it I think you are right, passed it at Mach on friday. It looked like the old heritage style sandite unit but looked too clean inside.salopiangrowler wrote: Carillion 121 on the Cambrian. thats not a sanditite unit is it. Wales & Borders(BR) V3.1 status.
Re-released for RW. Hopefully some of you will get it to work this time.

I have some experience of timetabling, and sandite paths are created, but they get removed if they get in the way of anything else - same with all similar trains like maintainance and charter trains. They don't really matter as they don't stick to timetables...unfortunately the same goes for regular freight services - so they can't be accurately timetabled!
