Some suggested requirements for these units:

1. Extreme reliability
2. Decent seat/ride comfort
3. Not too much noise (can't expect miracles with a commuter train though, I suppose)
4. Runs on biodiesel. Don't see biodiesel mentioned much in regards to rail - is there some technical reason why a DMU shouldn't run on it? It's more "sustainable" than some other fuels, if you're careful how the crop is grown...

i think that is what they are aiming for. Chinese manufactures are highly intent on producing the utmost quality in a short time. Our problem in this country is Affording to buy such a huge bulk to replace aging Pacers.

Even though the ATOC say we need more new trains Eddington (Former BA Chief) says we shall need to make do with what we've got.
