They've done it again. Phrase the guy's who set up Hull Trains bless there cotton sock's.
Summer next year is the proposed starting date of the new 5 train a day Wrexham to London Marylebone Service Calling at:
Wrexham
Shrewsbury
Telford Central
Wolverhampton
Birmingham International
Banbury
London Marylebone
Other intermediate stations could be Wellington and Cosford.
So i said to myself Coventry, Leamington Spa or Warwick are not important anymore, mmmm. well the service is still in its planning stages and more stops will be added onces NR give the guy's permission to stop at the stations.
Class 170's apparently so i guess the Ex- Hull trains 170's will be coming over to do it.
The route between wolverhampton and birmingham international will be through Bescot stadium or the Perrybar -soho link line as they said they will be avoiding birmingham new street.
This is great news for Shrewsbury and Shropshire and also for Wrexham who hasnt seen a Direct London train since the Birkenhead - London (Later Chester - London via Shrewsbury) service's stopped in the late 70's early 80's

I think them not calling at Coventry, Leamington Spa and Warwick has something to do with the problems that Grand Central caused GNER with York, by simply stopping there they can get a share of the revenue even if noone uses their trains.

That'll sqeeze the Coventry - Leamington line even more. It'll need doubling, methinks...

by not stopping at coventry just forces people to have to travel to london on virgin, unless they go to leamington for the chiltons service.
If they stopped at Cov i think virgin would loose quite a lot of buisness.

It would be a case of cheapest or fastest. Virgin would be faster, and im asuming walk up fare wise that this new service would be cheaper. It will end up that they stop at Coventry. But We'll see.

I think this new service is aimed at getting businesses to move to shropshire, especially those who are interested in setting up there business up here but refused to do so without a direct service to london.
It doesnt really matter where they stop the key points of the service is Wrexham Shrewsbury Telford anything from Wolverhampton to Marylebone is a bonus.

To double that track would be a nightmare i'm sure some of the bridges are only single track width, or did it used to be double track years ago?
I know someone who might actually know for definate, i'll ask
