125 and 225

Post by Astrovana »

I understand what class of trains are 125 and 225 but why these classifications since they have nothing to do with on the class of the locomotives.

Can anyone help me?

The 125 is a Class 43 HST. They are referred to as 125s or Intercity 125s as they can do 125 mph. The 225 is a Class 91 Electric plus mark 4 coaches which can do 225 kph

Cheers

125s are called so because they are capable of doing 125mph. 225s are called so because they are capable of doing 225kph.
