Both spare's i dare say. 175 to keep 198 going and 906 to keep 905 going.

Let's just hope they both don't go to Dartmoor and go to somewhere more easily accessible...

'bout time the Class 37 Group had a 37 in the midlands to look after if they do consider 906 a runner instead of spare's

906 will be a runner - theres more than enough Ruston spares around to keep both going for years.

I dunno bout that 175 is a very popular engine amongst 37 followers and plenty of spares are available at scrapyards around the country (Booths etc)

According to Wikipedia, there are 30 37s preserved already...do we really need any more? :-?

37906 is a Ruston engined beasty, one of only two in existance - think of it as a Fairburn 4mt of the diesel world.

37175 is someone's favourite pet.

Free world etc etc.

This one did the rounds a while back

If anyone would like to start a campaign to preserve more 'needy' forms of rolling stock or engines then go for it.....

Can have enough, what if summer's are so hot in the future that a ban on steam was in force on every railway, (Possible in the near future) we will need any loco that work's. We will need something to ferry passenger's around. Anyone remember the last mainline Steam Ban or more to the point the SVR steam ban when they had to get every diesel out that they had.

But surely there are so many 'preserved' engines already awaiting restoration that we'd be better off concentrating on these? At some point in the future people will start to lose interest and some of these will still go for scrap. And I don't buy this 37906's rare routine as both of the Ruston units are now saved. Finally, if the same ratio of preservation had been followed, then 20 40s, 19 Peaks and 32 Rats would have been saved....
