the version of the neon livery carried on the hst set yesterday may not be the final version used

Im not too keen on it - I think the previous livery looked much smarter, and not like it carries some slogan for an amusement park

Neon doesn't look right on a 43, looks better on a 185 personally.

I thought it was ok, actually. I just wish they'd settle on one livery because it's costing modellers a fortune!

I quite like the livery, although I agree it looks better on the 158 than it does the HST.

Does seem rather wasteful on the part of First - Fag Packet, then Barbie, then Barbie v2 (without the white) and now the Neon. No suprise that FGW have been the most expensive TOC on the network for a while!

Cheers

Am I too young to be an old fogey? I hate it :(

To me there's still nothing like NSE or IC Swallow...

(I wonder how many times these engines have been repainted since privatisation...)

IC Swallow - my all time favourite :)

Would be interesting to know which individual 43 has received the most new liveries actually!

Will be interested in what the next Powercar to emerge from Laira's paint shop wears. Rumour has it it will be in Neon.

Repaints/Relivering is done at overhaul, whether the livery changes or not.

BTW - The new Sleeper seat stock is being vinyled in 'Fag Packet Green'

Not mad keen on it myself. Mind you, I didn't like the IC 125 livery much, either.

:)

(Thoroughly decent engines are painted black.)

Fairly average views that livery does look rather "funky" but its a bit to mad and if that is paint not just transfers that must be costing a hell of a lot. The current livery i feel will be decent for at least 5 more years.

I think it would look better on the PCs if the First Great Western writing was redesigned, at the moment it look like an afterthought, just made up with existing letters, rather that a suitable new design.

I must say that I'm starting to warm to the 185s a bit now in the same livery, and they do seem to be catching they eye of the general public. One apparently caused a number of car driver's heads to turn last week leaving Dewsbury!

I'm going to go against the crowd and say I much prefer this livery to the previous 'Barbie' scheme that First was using - it looks hideous on the 175s and 156s up here in the old FNW patch.

Having said that, it would be nice if Northern and First Transpennine got themselves into gear and actually came up with new colour schemes. Northern are running a mish-mash of schemes, some thiers, some which they inherited, and TransPennine are running the 175s in 'Barbie' withe the First NorthWestern branding removed. Apart from being ugly, they also look a mess parked up together at Preton or Manchester. It's saying something that the best-looking trains up here are the Pendolinos! :D

Well, the new FGW livery entered full service on the TPX 185 before the HST, so I expect that will be standard, although the future of the 175s might prevent them getting a repaint.

As for Northern, I think they must have the highest number of liveries of any TOC, from provincial and old Merseyrail to I think 3 different Northern liveries already!
