Part of the problem is that there arent many people living along the line. It just isnt worth reopening, unless as part of the GCR freight scheme. And in that case, it would probably be better off dieselised anyway.

Would be useful as a connection from an M1 corridor HSL to Manchester, apparantley it's got a generous loading gauge aswell which is even better.
