Yes, we have 2 examples at the Midland Railway-Butterley, 1 being in the Museum at Swanwick and the other being the blue vehicle behind the Garden Railway at Butterley.johncard wrote:Didn't the Midland Railway have American-style Pullman cars at one time? Found them on the Vintage Carriages Trust site as grounded bodies.

Are you thinking of restoring them on old chassis or just preserving them as is? Would be interesting to ride in one. (If you could rebuild them as 3 carriages that would be the icing on the cake.....baggy6233 wrote:Yes, we have 2 examples at the Midland Railway-Butterley, 1 being in the Museum at Swanwick and the other being the blue vehicle behind the Garden Railway at Butterley.

They were filming some Micheal Caine film at the Mid Hants this winter with the double bubble.
There are countless cases of trains morphing mid-journey in cinema and TV. I remember seeing a deltic pull out of KX, and by the time it got to Newcastle it was a DMU. In the Wildheart's "Stormy in the North, Karma in the South" video, they manage to use a 225 set for the whole Newcastle - London trip though. Even though half the video's in Kettering.

It just beggars belief really. You'd never see James Bond start his journey in an Aston Martin and complete it in a Jaguar. Or Doctor Who's Tardis become a red telephone box. Or Nazi soldiers in British tanks. So why can't the film producers at least make an effort to find railway footage that at least features the same train throughout it's length? I appreciate that films have a budget and that it's not always possible to find an authentic location or rolling stock for a piece, but that's no excuse for errors of continuity. The film going public aren't stupid, and I'm sure that even non-enthusiasts could tell the difference between the apple-green Scotsman and a black-liveried Standard!

What about Going Straight with Ronnie Barker you see a Electric loco in BR Blue with a rake of Mk2's or 3'S pullin in to the station he gets on then when he gets inside he is suddernly in a MK'1 coach you see a MK'1 interior
What about all those WW2 Filme like engima at the GCR surposed to be in the 1940'S but what do they have MK1'S dont remember MK1's in the 40's late 50's they came in
Ad as for Narnia I did see that but the first bit where there bording the train I thought that was filmed in a studio
And remember the old days when the coach was a set the they had a big roller blind with the scenery on and they rolled it round to look like train was moving they had it outside the windows

That one was acctually quite accurate. Even though it was set in East Germany and the stock was a mix of Swedish, Danish and French locos and coaches.andrewtoplis wrote:James Bond? What about Octopussy? Nene Valley if Im not mistaken...
