I added Clapham Jcn, Willisden Jcn and Euston this morning due to my train being terminated at Clapham for no apparent reason.

What train were you on?

There were a number of trains terminated at Clapham because of a Track Circuit Failure in the Waterloo area. One comment made was " **** SWT, all full of price rises and **** lies " (Bleeps do not represent the length of the word.)

the 0545 Ports H - Wat via Basing.

It was very annoying actually, because the guard didn't explain anything to us about why we weren't going to Waterloo, just "This is clapham, all change please". Your post is the first I've heard of why we were terminated. That and the fact that there were loads of trains trundling though Clapham seemingly oblivious to the problems. It was, in my opinion, a very poor showing from SWT's customer services, which are usually excellent in these situations.

Being your guard for the above journey (hello), you will find that I explained in detail after departures from both Winchester and Basingstoke, and also walked through the train answering every person who wanted to know. In fact I was doing a manual announcement when I got the phone call telling me the situation, and within seconds of putting the phone down was doing the right thing and telling people what was happening.

SWT were going to terminate that train at Basingstoke, and I disagreed as two trains following us did exactly the same. The information i was subsequently given, I agree, was passed on incorrectly to me from several sources including SWT control and Wimbledon Signal Box and the promised same platform train was scrapped without my knowledge, but at least the passengers on that service were given 35 minutes notice on board of the short termination. I could have waited until just outside Clapham, like many guards do, but I was honest from the start.

I will accept any critism that you have, but some of your comments above are very wrong, and I did not like getting on the platform 10 class 455 any more than you may have done, but I was told it had to be done.

Many Thanks.

Small World. I got on at Basingstoke, and I honestly do not recall any announcements as to the reason. Being a railway employee myself I tend to listen for these things, but i'll assume I missed something. You'll know what you did better than me!

You guys normally do an excellent job (the staff on the silverlink trains I took to get to Euston were pathetic by comparison), so I apologise if I've wrongly accused you of anything.
