As a swift follow up, please don't get the view that I'm singling out individual members - look back on all the other similar threads and this topic is just going the same way

EDP's latest on the incident. Looks like the suicide theory is being given some serious consideration.

Phew I was getting worked up there, took a few minutes to realise this happened last year...

Was about to go on a rant about irresponsible motorists. :D

Shoulda been on the Electrostar I was on today when it was attached to another train in front. The driver got a bit carried away and half the train ended up with whiplash. Now that's a bump!

The breakdown services advise people to stay inside there vehicle in emergencies. now who would you listern too someone who you give £39 pound a month to, to look after the saftey and reliability of your only way to work or Network Rail.

I've heard many times advice saying to leave your vehicle ASAP, especially on fast roads and motorways.

I've always been told that in the case of motorways - regardless of weather, get out and stay on the other side of the barriers. I can see why, too, as many lorry drivers seem to use the hard shoulder border as a guide when driving, and I have seen a number drifiting quite far into the hard shoulder before suddenly 'jerking' back out - regardless, if a car was in the way of a truck at 56mph, I know what would come of worse! Hence I'd always get out even if it is raining.

i got told by the police, (Hereford & Worcestershire department) that the car was the safest place, but then again we broke down next to the shrewsbury to cardiff line on the A49 i was brought out of the car by 37's hammering up the gradient albiet slowly. so i stayed out an saw 3 pairs and a solo 37 in one night i was glad we broke down.

but generally i stay in the car.

You dont know who's about these day's

But yeah level crossing's if i broke down on one id ring the box up straight away.
