East Lancs Autumn Steam Enthusiast Weekend

Post by leedavo »

Does anyone have any news from the gala. I intend to make a series of activities based on this ELR Gala (even though I cannot attend it myself) and hope for some help on what locomotives made it and what did not?

I would also be grateful for coaching stock information (e.g. Marron Mk1 brake + Marron Mk1 corridor + Crimson/Cream Mk1 corridor, etc.).

I would particually like to now what hauled the 8:25 (3E55) non-stop Bury to Ramsbottom service on both days (44422 due on Saturday but 47324 on Sunday but 44422 on the return somehow) and if the stock used for this was also used on the 9:45am from Bury to Heywood?

Apart from the fact you'll need a 44996, 6201, 47324...good luck :).

47324 replaced 44422 on all of its runs, and 44996 replaced 71000 on all of its. The same plan is in operation today.

Apart from that, its all going well :). The Nightrider seems very well attended this year...plus we've got the countries only working Jubilee and Princess.....its a good'un!

The 3E55 was a non-stop early morning freight, run with the jinty and a short consist....Saturdays run also had a few scheduled runpasts at Burrs.

And does anyone now what type of goods the 8:45am was (e.g. vans, mixed) and does anyone have any pictures?

thanks,
Lee

Unfortunately they were and looked terrible.

As did 45407(44996) and Leander in nose-to-nose mode- why????????? :o :o

A good gala line up spoiled by some nasty coaches and badly thought out double headed combos.

44996 came back from her railtours this Thursday that way round....which WASN'T planned. Unfortunately the roster and timetable had already been set in stone by then, and we couldn't turn her without forking out a huge fee to use the triangle....

I heard something on Radio Lancashire the other day, about a Class 101 DMU (Cravens?) arriving at ELR to be "saved"!
Anybody have any more details, as I missed most of the article on radio and heard nothing more since?

cheers
