Of course yes the Windcutter is limited to 20mph mainly because when steam hauled, although the wagons a fitted with vac brakes, the old time steam enthusiasts that pay to drive request the windcutter to be an unfitted train this is also popular with the volunteers of the GCR. Hoever i dont know if its happened yet but a pair of 20's was supposed to be tested at 60mph on the windcutter wagons, for mainline certification.

right there we dont have the money there was talks of when the 04 went back to the NRM if it ever did they would give us the Director in exchange to do that loco up but then the NRM dont want to do it and we dont have the money it is fine in the museum on display

the work that would need to be done to the director would mean that parts which are origonal would need to be removed - one i belive is the tube plate as the old one has done its years

The main part is the boiler it has gone the GCR restored is in the 80's and when it left if went back to the NRM it needs a new boiler to start with

This time in the next 60 years poeple will be wanting 66250 to be restored and running up the GCR with its swanky new colour light signalling and ARS, Hell TPWS qill be on Preserved lines in 60 years time :lol:

Oh Believe my theirs already a 66 appreciation society. And a 66 unappreciation society otherwise known as "the bag of nails society"

I know of someone who was starting a 57 preservation group, but i took that with a pinch of salt.

id love to see a 57 get preservd i think the freightliner ones are beast's especially with their unique GM growl mixed with a Good old 56's screaming 57008 and 012 scream the loudest on heavy trains and 005 Clags good enough to rate as hellfire.
