Hi
Can't make it  ...but hope you have a "Hellfire" trip....and get some good photos.
My last ride behind a fourty...was over 10 years ago ... 40012 over the Alps (MHR) on the BeerEx (when she cracked her bogie)...but it was a fantastic run. :P
Years ago...mid 1970s forties occasionally used to cover 47 duties on the KX-Cleethorpes...with same booked timings...and they really used to have to get going.
Cheers
Jon

Its due into Liverpool at 9:45 so I might try and go and see it. Saw 71000 at Wavertree Technology Park this morning.

Apparently the fire brigade were called at Stalybridge to top up the water but the Duke still didn't go, so a 66 from Healey Mills hauled the train to York.

I wont be able to see that one, as the first train from Meols is 5:58, and the train leaves at 6am.

I was waiting for 71000 at Healey Mills when we got the word she'd run out of water. Came back via Morley as well instead of Horbury, so very dissapointed I missed both of them! :(

Hi

From what I just been told i get the impression that 71000 made its own way back to Bury and it was lack of water at stalybridge.
