6233 had a nice long period of rest at Bressingham too, didn't it? Is it not on it's first return to the mainline since withdrawl?

Flying Scotsman has been running nigh on constantly since it's return, which was one of the first to go back on the main line IIRC (probably mainly due to having a higher profile than any LMS muck, or maybe it's the other way round...)

What we're talking about is a loco that has run basically continually for 80ish years. Many components will be new, but it is probably the hardest worked steam engine running today. And with Mallard being unlikely to steam again, it is basically the flagship of the NRM, so it will continue to be worked hard.

Which one is more reliable? 45407 has been a regular performer since the late 1990's, while scotsman fails on at least every trip, hence 45407 and 45112 ;)

No, failing every trip is wrong.

It's twice every trip, right?

Admit it, Scotsman's half way to the scrapyard already, and with the rate it's going, it WILL be in the scrapyard pretty soon. Why don't they put a decent loco on the front such as 76079 or 6233  . Let's face it they're more reliable than 4472, even if it is near enough 80 years old! :P

It would be nice for the Scotsman to be fit to run 4 out of 5 Scarborough Spa Express trips, though.
:)
Does anyone know the prices for these runs??? :-?

Just sayin that if they carry on treatin her in the way they are she wont have very long to go until 'the end'. Even though 4472 is a rival of our (PRCLT) 6233, I still think she is a lovely loco and would love to see her in a bit better condition that she is now. To me a steamer's a steamer, and you can't beat steam haulage anywhere in the country :D
