Has Ken Ryder lifted his ban on the Great Central Railway (as featured in this months Steam Railway & Heritage Railway magazines) using his Manor - 7821 Dicheat Manor - as I see from http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/roster.htm that the loco is in the locomotive roster?

Much easier said than done, especially when there is some kind of contract in place.

Just ask John Bunch.

The only reason the Loco was banned from being used is because it was starting trackside fires and Health and Safety banned it from being used because of that that why it was banned from being used if it was banned again for the reason above I did not know about this

The loco currenty has a 12 month contract with the GCR to take it right up to April 2006

its is then berlived that the owner of this locomotive will then move her,

Thr sides of the story are as follows

the GCR has done a large amount of work including, boiler, firebos, cylinder, and smoke box work which amounts to an awfull lot of money.

Mr Ryder says that he never agreed to the work being done there for it is on our head and that we owe hin a 5 figure sum

The loco was to move before War Weekend but this was stoped as things were set up for war weekend he then told us we were not allowed to use the locomotive, followed by us putting it into service on the thursday friday saturday sunday and monday and also this saturday and sunday just gone as we were exercising are contractual agreement

i myself know what work has been done

i also know that tomorow one of my colleeges will be in its firebox again replacing stay nuts, the firebox of this locomotive is getting very tired,

I myself spent many hours replaying fire bars and cleaning firebars which had become badly clinkered

Totally agree, although rumour has it that the present mgt board and MR JB are getting along a little better nowadays, as 15 years contarct does not last for ever does it !!!

Well if I were the MH Board I would attempt a reconciliation with him. He owns at least 5 of the locos on site, and I'm sure he's involved with swanage too. The public wranglings also serve to put other owners off the railway, and they don't want to rely on 33208 (which is another story entirely) to pull all the trains....
