Bluebell railway extension

Post by depman2004 »

Looking foward to the East grinstead extension
They are hoping to extend to Ardingly eventually
But Lewes is a long term possibility and a lot of obstacles
If anyone is interested in the bluebell railway have a look at latest pics on extension by clicking link
The last photo was May last year
I dont know how far they have got now

They've now laid track to the south end of the landfill at Iberhorne cutting. It's about a mile north of Kingscote.
But it should be interesting to see the tip acctually being emptied. Theres 200,000 tons of . that will cost £6 million to remove. I have no idea how they will raise that money without a struggle.
Take it easy, take it easy, don't let the sound of your old wheels drive you crazy.

£4-6 Million to shift it.

Original plan to take it directly by rail across the viaduct over East Grinstead were blocked for some reason. The current plan is to take it by train to Horsted Keynes where it will be loaded onto lorries for transport to a landfill site.

regards

Dan

Looks like the bluebell has a bright future
Its only 5 miles away from where I live too :D

Would love East Grinstead to Three bridges branch line to reopen
But Its virtually impossible
The track bed is still there in a lot of places and old railway bridges part of "Worth way"
But the old line coming out of Three bridges station has gone and is now a housing complex
