Why was the train delayed today...?

Post by WAT3212 »

ALTERATION

16:03

London Waterloo to Salisbury

due 17:37

This train has now departed and is now 28 minutes late.
This train will be run fast from London Waterloo to Basingstoke.
It will no longer call at: Clapham Junction and Woking.
This is due to emergency station roof repairs.

I have never seen that reason before! Bloody glass roofing at Waterloo - I hate it anyway!!! When you work on the concourse for 8 hours in a heatwave it kills you! Its like being in a massive greenhouse! And would hate to think of the damage it could do if a terrorist was to put a bomb on the roof

That's a good one. The roof at waterloo is very smart, though. It was horrible before they refurbished it, and waterloo is now a pretty pleasant station to use, from the passenger perspective. Which is what matters....

Think what would happen if they put a bomb on the St Pancras roof...

Maybe a glass panel fell out and they had to close that part of the station? Or the HSE got board and demanded emergency repairs on a perfectly good, new roof.

It must be option 2. If something had fallen, the HSE would have closed the entire station. For about 3 weeks.

Sad thing is i'm not being sarcastic.

Hi

The roof at Waterloo is fantastic, it nice to see them putting money towards a worthwhile project. The station used to be a dark, dank dump, now it is light and airy. If you're going to criticise everything with lots of glass in, then why dont you look at the skyline, practically every building has acres of Glass.

What would you rather? A new glass roof with plenty of light, or New Street?

Three problems with putting glass roof at new street:

Above the platforms is the main concourse

Ontop of the concourse is shopping area

Ontop of shopping are is multi-storey car park

You miss understand me mate
Would you rather have Waterloo with its nice glass roof, or should they pour some concrete over it and build the Pallisades 2?

They wouldn't close the station - it happened at Lancaster one day - If I had been a metre further along the platform it would have hit me! A huge pane of glass. They replaced them a year or so later
