CrossCountry (XC) threatening to sue over cheaper fares

XC are threatening to sue a Rail User Group who are recommending that commuters travelling between Nuneaton & Birmingham purchase a Season between Lichfield Trent Valley & Smethwick Galton Bridge.

The Nuneaton-Birmingham Season is priced by XC and costs a whopping £43.50 for 7 days.

However Lichfield TV-Smethwick Galton Bridge is priced by LM and only costs £27.50 for 7 days.

XC appear not to want to adhere to the terms of Season Tickets, which "may be used at intermediate stations, and on any permitted route" nor do they want to accept tickets that are used on routes shown in the Routeing Guide, which permit passengers to use XC services on tickets that are priced by more reasonably priced operators.

Sadly, the rail industry does not have an effective ombudsman to reign in rogue TOCs such as XC. :(

And only goes to show that the madness of privatisation was never about competition.

I wonder if the railways will go full circle in time and we'll see a return of "The Big 4" and then later on we see the return of BR?

Who knows eh...... stranger things have happened 0X
