Atherstone Station.

Hi Folks.
Over the last few months&years there's been a few changes at Atherstone station&it's train service. For a start we now have the best ever rail service that we've ever had with a train in each direction every hour from around 6am to 7/8pm (some going direct to London Euston meaning no change of train at Northampton&up to Crewe via Stoke On Trent to the north) using London Midlands Class 350 Desiro 4 car EMU's.The old footbridge has gone&access for most is via a underpass meaning for the first time in years disabled people can access the northbound platform. These's a new small car park on the northbound side too, sadly still no ticket machine on this side (platform 1) so if you park in the new carpark it's a bit a walk down a flight of steps,(or via a narrow&steep pathway for wheelchair users)under the railway&around to the machine on platform 2 to get your ticket so it's best not be late for your train as i'd guess the trip to get your ticket takes about 7/8mins.
Overall it's been changes for the better even if they don't go far enough. The new carpark is close to full most days&probably should have been made at least twice the size as it is&there needs to be a ticket machine on the northbound platform. While they were building the carpark they resurfaced the platforms from end to end&the waiting shelters are cleaned most days which with the cctv halps you feel a little safer.
Regards~Dom.
