LMS 10000

Post by batling »

Hi guys,

Read an interesting article in one of the railway mags about a group formed with the intention of building one of the LMS diesel-electric twins - 10000 & 10001.

Wouldn't it be awesome if one of these could be seen running on the main line?

Hi Ant,

It certainly would, then perhaps the following might become a reality also  :

After all they were the first main-line diesels to be used in Great Britain, even dating back to the LMS days (1947 to 1963 & 1948 to1966), I used to drive them a lot on David Corfield's excellent Thames Mersey MSTS Route.

Or even the British Railways Class D16/2:

Now these would be different.

You know I was just mulling over the possibility of a model in Railworks...

My dad just came and had a look and did the proverbial blowing of air through teeth... He doesn't approve - doesn't see the point. But then he is a steam man. Me, I love the idea of one of the 'twins': they have character and a bit of presence.

Tell your Dad I'm nearly 65yo and was raised on steam locos but it was a thrill to see The Twins through the Trent Valley on The Royal Scot !

:D

Likewise the prototype Deltic.

Made a change from Semi's that I'd seen hundreds of times !

Now that would be a sight.

That's the odd thing - he's a tad older than you and the only diesel he has a soft spot for is the Deltics!

Its great to see some of the earlier/Not So Successfull Diesels being "recreated". And lets face it, its been shown to be possible with steam locos, Just look at some of the projects that are underway/complete today (Tornado, 82045 Project, Baby Deltic Project etc etc.)

Best of luck to them!
