Incident involving Penzance bound HST

I'm not 100% sure, but if the RAIB is the same as the AAIB (Air Accidents) they will only report where something can be gained from it (and also, I believe, where loss of life has occurred), as their aim is to improve safety by highlighting procedures that could be adapted. It is possible in this case that because it was a freak accident, the RAIB do not deem it to be necessary to perform an investigation, particularly if factors such as speed and driver fatigue/intoxication are not deemed to be an issue.

That is purely speculation on my part, however.

Looks increasingly likely that martinhodgson is right; the website has been updated with a more recent incident on 20 July with no mention of the tree incident, so I doubt it will be investigated.

On the contrary, it looks like they *are* investigating it now. I got a link to a nice little write-up in my e-mail.

It is unusual for them to take so long about announcing it though.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
