Stansted Express

Post by Pyromaniac »

Hi all,

I'm looking into the history of the Stansted Express and i'm wondering if anyone could let me know what the routings and frequencies of the service were around the start of the millenium.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

My kind of area. :D

The Stansted Express was originally called the Stansted Skytrain and ran at a 30-min frequency using 5 Class 322 units from it's opening in 1991 untill 1997, then the fleet became part of the standard WAGN fleet and could operate any service. In 2001, Class 322s were removed from the service when 15 min frequency was introduced with refurbished Class 317s.

The routing was.... London Liverpool Street - Bethnal Green Junction - Hackney Downs - Clapton Junction? - Tottenham Hale - Non-stop to Stansted Airport. The stops at Harlow Town and Bishops Stortford were added around 2001 I think with the stop at Stansted Mountfitchet added around 2004/5 I think?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think most is correct.....
