In May 2009 a fault was found on one of D335s bogies. The loco was immediately taken out of service and has not run since then.

The CFPS has been actively seeking the required components that will enable repairs to commence and result in D335 returning to traffic. Last December a class 40 bogie (a very rare commodity) was purchased from the Class 40 Appeal. This bogie should be arriving at the East Lancashire Railway at the end of February and a plan can be put in place so as to repair D335 to active service. Volunteers will also be needed to complete this very important task.

The bogie has obviously cost the CFPS a considerable amount of money. As a result we have set up an appeal to raise funds for the repair.

There are various ways of donating money to the CFPS.

Send a cheque to the CFPS D335 BOGIE APPEAL, 38, Watkins Drive, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 0DS. Please make cheques payable to the "Class 40 Preservation Society"

Make regular payments to the CFPS using Standing Order. Please use the attached Standing Order form

If you use internet banking then you can set up standing orders on line using the details on the standing order form. Please use the reference D335BF/<your membership number>.

We are also looking into other methods of on line payments for this important project.
