It's easy to forget, with all the GTO and IGBT based EMUs around nowadays, that the old camshaft gear was pretty damn quiet. All you can hear in that video is rolling, flange and body noises - hardly anything from the motors and nothing from the control gear.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
