theres a few rules being broken in this Thread, please try and stay within the rules.
2a) Messages that are potentially libellous, obscene, vulgar, sexually orientated, racist, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any law are not permitted. Please be aware that posts that contravene these guidelines may result in personal legal repercussions for individual members, for which Atomic Systems cannot take responsibility. Linking to other sites that contain or lead to such content is also not permitted. Videos or screenshots, from any simulator, which show train crashes or derailments are also not permitted to be posted either as messages on the UKTS forums or direct links to other sites.
5) Use of foul language and profanity will not be tolerated, and use of such language will be edited or removed without consultation. Using partial masking of such words (such as asterisks or punctuation marks) will result in the same action as if the actual word or words had been used. This also applies to off-site links - if it would not be acceptable in the UKTS forums then a direct link to the material is equally unacceptable.
Also remember that its speculation that exists within this thread and it should come under rulling for railway incidents. The people on the ground have had a pretty difficult week, I should think , and as they are not allowed to post in public, it must be frustrating at the level of speculation that currently exists. Please can you consider the effect that these posts have on those who work on the railway .

Why are you assuming that some of us don't work on the railway?
There is certianly nothing to stop railway employees from posting - just look at RailUK.

That's true in general Ralph, but there is at least one employee of Eurostar on this forum who feels that the criticism levelled at Eurostar is speculative and to some extent inaccurate - but for obvious reasons that member can't get involved in an active debate here. I'm sure that railway employees of ALL operators are working very, very hard to cope with the adverse weather happening across Europe just now, and they are doing their best under very trying circumstances. My thoughts and good wishes are with them all.

Please don't forget, the main criteria is the passengers and crew's safety... that is paramount.
Any off-the-cuff shortcuts to manage a situation (some would call it common sense
) is a thing of the past.
If this had happened 30 years ago (Yes, I know that the tunnel hasn't been there that long), a rat or something similar would have been sent down there to haul the stranded trains out, passengers et al
I'll never forget the time I was travelling from Liverpool Exchange
to Wigan Wallgate when the DMU ran out of fuel at Pemberton.
The driver simply coasted down the gradient to a smooth stop at the station. Nowadays, I suspect that the passengers would have needed to disembark and busstituted the rest of the way, whilst the line was shut for several hours whilst recovery took place.
Nowadays, the proceedure is eliminating any risk, no matter how much that disrupts comfort and punctuality.
I for one, however, would rather be cold and late, and live to travel another day.

The problem has apparently been fixed...something to do with the unforseen and extreme winter conditions causing a problem with filters, which affected the electrical cooling system.
