Scotrail Class 380 - First Pictures

Post by glasgowworks »

In July 2008, Transport Scotland announced that 38 units (22 three-car and 16 four-car units) were ordered for Ayrshire and Inverclyde lines.

The first car of the Class 380 has been completed, see the link below and hope you like the pictures.

There's something slightly weird looking about it from what I can see of

I don't know if it's because I'm used to Desiro stock having non-angled front-ends?

I'm guessing it looks weird due to the corridor walkway sticking out so much and cutting the drivers view of the right off, but if you closely at the walkway it looks like it could fold back when not in use.

That's it in it's "coupling" position, the connection will be further back when not coupled to another unit (but not far enough back in my opinion).

I'll get to see these trains when they come into service as they'll be my "local" trains whenever I'm back up in Scotland. Personally, I think they're ugly units and secretly hope they'll refit them in a few years and remove the corridor connection (as they did with 126s and 318s).
