A very small shop in Fenny Stratford had a logo 'vaguely' similar to Mac Donalds and they threatened to sue
Nothing happened .... Mac Donalds 'corporate logo' survived .... but their 'corporate image' .... took a knock (in Fenny Stratford anyway)

I think you mean GNR, or more properly GNR/NER/NB. But you're almost certainly right, especially as the first train to reach the junction just north of Montrose where the two routes merged was the winner, as it would also be first to Aberdeen. I seem to recall that orignally GNER wanted to use the name GNR but someone must have pointed out to them that the GNR didn't go north of York (that was solid NER land) so they must have put the two company names together for a compromise!Electricfox wrote:Hmm, but surely the GER services that ran London-Edinburgh in the early 1900s were more realible than todays services, especially during the "Race for the North" when unrealibility meant loss of passengers and the "Race"
Hear! Hear! Does 'British Rail' count too?I hate the use of the word "Trains" in a company's name, such as Central Trains, South West Trains or whatever. The word "Railway" sounds so much better even if not strictly accurate!
