I think Sp3 is excellent!
I have had Trainz ever since the initial release and while I had fun creating my own layout very easily, it was activities/scenarios in MSTS that kept me using it and since Trainz did not have these, my interest wained.
SP3 brings with it scenario support and if the example given with it is anything to go by then this is going to be excellent. Proper announcements at the stations, radio chatter in the cab....
For people who are not as interested in activities there are new Locos, scenery items (some very good new UK ones) and support for custom sounds. Trainz also runs faster with less problems, the fog (that is hated by some people) can now be switched off and the large route support seems to be excellent, probably it will also make the tea if you ask it
For anyone, like me, who had lost interest in Trainz it is worth getting (and its free) See my post in "Service pack 3 available" thread for UK download as Auran Servers are pretty much unavailable

There are 2 ways to turn off fog, 1st from the Trainz launcher select configure Trainz, then in the Driver and surveyor parts it has sliders for good and bad weather fog, just slide all the way left.
2nd whilst actually in Driver or surveyor select the performance panel and the sliders are available there too.

re:Fog
Also just read Docs in Trainz folder (Guess I should have done that 1st
)
You can add the line:
-disablefog
in your trainzoptions.txt file to get rid of it completely. (might want to make a back-up 1st)

excellent those signals look great and my first impressions of sp3 are that everything is now a lot smoother no more jerks!i was experimenting with the uk catanary this morning and it was looking good, but i was wondering when you come to a junction or crossover how do you place the catanary without it overlapping?there was also talk of being able to "change ends"and to drive the same loco from no2 cab?
PS sorry for all these questions but i think trainz is now starting to come together rather nicely!

Unfortunately they ran out of time for doing the changing ends thing for dual loco's, just about all the beta testers had a whine about it but at the end of the day they had something like 10 or 11 extra things they wanted to do but it was already a week late and had to go out, maybe we'll see it in another update - until then, at least we have working turntables so we can turn the locos around properly
As to the cateneries - no idea on that one, came across the same issue myself. I did notice the american cateneries come with another section that has no supports, so you can make bigger gaps between them, but no such thing is present on the UK ones (and no, they aren't the same, I tried
).
Matt.

One of them by any chance being an improvement in the way the Points look ?NeutronIC wrote:At the end of the day they had something like 10 or 11 extra things they wanted to do but it was already a week late and had to go out, maybe we'll see it in another update.
Such as moving Blades showing the gap correctly the train will travel trough and Frogs with gaps for the Wheel Flanges. At the moment Points look like asking for derailments galore !
I am not going to buy another release of TRAINZ until Points look and animate like the real ones, including 3-way Y-Points, Single- and Double Slips !
